What to Expect in a Shaktipat Session

A first session raises practical questions. What happens in the room? What might you feel? What comes after? This is a straightforward account of the process from arrival to integration.

The session creates conditions for the transmission, but the direction the energy takes is its own.

Most people arrive to a Shaktipat session with some combination of curiosity, anticipation and not quite knowing what to expect. That combination is actually ideal. The session works through openness, and openness requires a small degree of not-knowing. At the same time, a clearer picture of the practical structure of the session helps you arrive better prepared.

This article walks through a Shaktipat session at Lyran from beginning to end.

Before the session

Practical preparation

A few physical considerations make the transmission more available:

Mental preparation

The most useful mental preparation is to arrive genuinely open rather than primed for a particular experience. People who come in hoping to feel a specific thing, warmth, visions, bliss, sometimes find their expectation gets in the way of what actually happens. What the session produces is not always what the mind has decided it should be.

A more useful orientation is simple curiosity: what is this, and what will I notice? That question, held lightly, is enough.

Arrival and the opening conversation

Sessions at Lyran begin with a short conversation. Maxime will ask a few questions: what brings you to Shaktipat, what experience you have with meditation or energy work, whether you have had any previous Kundalini symptoms or experiences, and whether there is anything in your current health situation worth knowing.

This conversation is not a medical screening so much as an orientation. It gives Maxime a sense of where you are and calibrates the transmission to meet you where you actually stand, rather than where someone else might be.

🕐

Session length: The full session typically runs between 60 and 90 minutes, including the opening conversation, the transmission itself, and time to return to ordinary awareness and discuss anything that arose.

During the transmission

You will lie down or be seated comfortably. The room is quiet. Maxime works at close range but does not necessarily make physical contact, the transmission does not require touch, though touch may be used at specific points to direct or intensify the energy flow.

What people commonly feel

Experiences vary significantly between individuals and between sessions for the same individual. The following are common but not universal:

The transmission is not performing for you. It is working in the direction your system needs. That direction may or may not produce dramatic experiences.

What to do if the experience becomes intense

For some people, particularly those with already-sensitised systems or previous Kundalini activity, the transmission can produce a significant intensity, strong heat, rapid energy movement, powerful emotional currents. If this happens, you do not need to manage or control the experience. Let Maxime know what is arising. The session can be modulated, and the energy can be directed and settled where needed.

The session is not left to itself. Maxime remains present and working throughout, able to adjust the transmission in response to what is happening in your system.

After the transmission: integration

Once the transmission period concludes, you will be given time to return to ordinary awareness before the session ends. This is not something to rush. Some people feel clear and grounded immediately. Others need a few minutes, or longer. There is no pressure on how this proceeds.

Before you leave, there will be a brief debrief, what arose, any observations from Maxime about what he noticed, and any guidance relevant to your specific situation for the days that follow.

What to expect in the days after

The session does not end when you leave the room. The activated energy continues to move and integrate in the days that follow. Common post-session experiences include:

🌿

Integration support: If something significant arises in the days after your session and you want guidance, reach out. Maxime provides brief follow-up support for active clients. The session does not conclude at the door.

How long does integration take?

There is no fixed period. A single session might integrate within a few days, or the effects might continue unfolding for weeks. This depends on where the Kundalini process was when you began the session, how much energetic material was activated, and how receptive your system was at the time.

In general, subsequent sessions are more effective once the initial activation has had time to settle, not because the energy needs to be exhausted first, but because the system becomes more coherent and the transmission can go deeper from a stable foundation.

Choosing between in-person and online

Shaktipat sessions at Lyran are available both in-person in Tewantin on the Sunshine Coast and via online transmission. The transmission works through both formats. Distance does not diminish its effect. Many clients who cannot access the Sunshine Coast receive Shaktipat online with results identical to in-person work.

In-person sessions allow for physical aspects of the session that online cannot provide, including proximity-based transmission and hands-on energetic work at specific points in the body. Some clients prefer this, particularly for their first session, simply to have the physical context. It is a valid preference rather than a necessity.

Altered states vary from person to person. Some enter dissolution. Others feel deep stillness. Both are valid.

Common questions

Do I need to do anything to prepare for a Shaktipat session?

The main preparation is physical: eat lightly or not at all in the two hours before, avoid alcohol for 24 hours, and get a full night of sleep if possible. Mentally, the most useful preparation is to arrive with genuine openness rather than specific expectations about what you will experience.

What if I don't feel anything during the session?

Some people feel the transmission strongly and immediately. Others notice subtle effects during the session but strong effects in the days that follow. A small number report little during the session and then discover changes in awareness, sleep or perception over the following week. Not feeling dramatic sensations during the session does not mean nothing happened.

How long does a Shaktipat session last?

Sessions at Lyran typically run 60 to 90 minutes. This includes an initial conversation, the transmission period itself, and time to return to ordinary awareness and discuss what arose.

Is Shaktipat safe?

Shaktipat is safe for the vast majority of people. The main contraindication is active psychosis or a significant dissociative disorder, the process works through expanded states of consciousness and is not appropriate for people whose sense of reality is already unstable. If you have a history of serious psychiatric conditions, discuss this before booking.

How many sessions will I need?

There is no standard answer. Some people experience a significant and lasting opening from a single session. Others work with Maxime over multiple sessions, going progressively deeper into the awakening process. The right approach depends on where you are and what you are working toward.
